The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of a storm in the Bay of Bengal.  After 5 days there is possibility of cyclonic storm in Bay of Bengal.  A low pressure may develop in the Bay of Bengal on May 22.  This low pressure may turn into a depression on May 24.  Depression may affect parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra.  However, unseasonal rain has been predicted again in Gujarat and Maharashtra around May 27


Gandhinagar: Good news has come for Gujarat regarding monsoon.  Monsoon will enter Gujarat between June 19 and 30.  According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Monsoon has reached Andaman-Nicobar.  It will reach Kerala by 31st May.  Last year too, monsoon arrived in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 19 May, but in Kerala it arrived 9 days late on 8 June.  This year monsoon may arrive in Kerala even before the normal date.


However, the usual date of monsoon arrival in Kerala is 1 June.  The declared date is likely to be 4 days more or less.  That means Monsoon can set in anytime between 28th May to 3rd June.

According to IMD data, monsoon arrival dates in Kerala have been quite different over the last 150 years.  In 1918 the monsoon reached Kerala first on 11 May, while in 1972, it reached Kerala the latest on 18 June.  Talking about the last four years, monsoon reached Kerala on June 1 in 2020, June 3 in 2021, May 29 in 2022 and June 8 in 2023.
