Monsoon 2024: ચોમાસાને લઈ મોટા સમાચાર, નિકોબાર પહોંચ્યું નૈઋત્યનું ચોમાસું, આ તારીખે આવશે ગુજરાત

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Monsoon has reached Andaman-Nicobar.  It will reach Kerala by 31st May.  Last year too, monsoon arrived in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 19 May, but in Kerala it arrived 9 days late on 8 June.  Now everyone's eyes will be on when this monsoon will reach Gujarat.

This year monsoon may arrive in Kerala even before the normal date.  However, the usual date of monsoon arrival in Kerala is 1 June.  The declared date is likely to be 4 days more or less.  That means monsoon can occur anytime between 28th May to 3rd June.

According to IMD, monsoon is likely to reach Madhya Pradesh from June 16 to 21 and Rajasthan from June 25 to July 6.  While in UP it will reach from 18 to 25 June and in Bihar-Jharkhand by 18 June.

According to IMD data, monsoon arrival dates in Kerala have been quite different over the last 150 years.  In 1918, the monsoon reached Kerala first on 11 May, while in 1972, it reached Kerala the latest on 18 June.  Talking about the last four years, monsoon reached Kerala on June 1 in 2020, June 3 in 2021, May 29 in 2022 and June 8 in 2023.

El Nino and La Nina are two climate patterns.  Last year El Nino was active, this time the El Nino conditions have ended this week and La Nina conditions are likely to develop in three to five weeks.

Last year, during El Nino, rainfall was 94% below normal.  During the La Niña triple dip from 2020 to 2022, 109%, 99% and 106% of rainfall occurred.

El Nino: This causes the sea temperature to rise by 3 to 4 degrees.  Its effect is seen twice in 10 years.  Due to its effect, areas with high rainfall receive less rainfall and areas with low rainfall receive more rainfall.

La Nina: In this the sea water cools rapidly.  It affects the weather around the world.  The sky is cloudy and it is raining heavily.

According to the Meteorological Department, this monsoon will arrive in Gujarat from 19 to 30 June.
